Our COVID-19 Policy
The health, safety and wellbeing of our clients and employees is paramount. Following our recent guidance regarding coronavirus and continued watching brief on the situation, we are taking the opportunity to update you all.
We appreciate that this is an unsettling time with continuous media coverage. As this situation is ever-changing, we are today providing you with further guidance to ensure client and employee welfare and business planning is paramount.
We continue to follow Government guidance and will provide updates if the current position changes.
If you believe you have COVID-19: please contact your supervisor/line manager in the first instance and follow the Government advice here
If you are confirmed with COVID-19: your line manager/supervisor should call the major incident reporting line (MIRP) and contact HR immediately.
Changes to our working practices
We continue to take steps to protect our workforce and so with immediate effect, the following should be implemented:
All employees and workers should inform their line managers or supervisor of any pre-existing medical conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes, heart disease, etc.) that may exacerbate the effects of COVID-19.
The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to the virus. PHE recommends that the best way to reduce any risk of infection is good basic hygiene and avoiding direct or close contact (closer than two metres) with any potentially infected person to help prevent people from catching and spreading COVID-19:
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands)when you cough or sneeze, put used tissues in the bin straight away.
Wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available. See handwashing guidance
Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
If you are worried about symptoms, please call NHS 111. Do not go directly to your GP or other healthcare environments as this could further spread the virus.
We are adopting a ‘no physical contact policy’ e.g. hand-shaking – please ensure all employees and workers are aware of this.
It is recommended that in kitchen areas you use a single set of crockery/plates etc on a daily basis and these are thoroughly cleaned at the end of the day. If this is not possible consider the use of paper plates and disposable crockery.
Particular attention should be paid to office cleaning, and in particular cleaning common surfaces with disinfectant/ anti-bacterial wipes e.g. door handles, handrails etc. Cleaning is to be carried out with disposable cloths which should then be disposed of.
All waste, including used tissues, and masks if used, should be put in a plastic rubbish bag and tied when full.
If there is a suspected case of COVID-19 in the workplace the plastic bin bag should then be placed in a second bin bag and tied. It should be put in a safe place and marked for storage until the case is confirmed or not.
If positive, follow the guidance from the PHE Health Protection team. If the individual tests negative, rubbish can then be put in the normal waste bin.
