Kennington Cycleway Complete!

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

We are excited to let you know that works to Kennington Cycleway is now complete!

Forming part of the National Cycle Network, this complex 1.2km path through farmland, woodland, and across the floodplain was constructed in under 12 weeks. It involved the construction of a 3m wide steel and timber bridge spanning a controlled watercourse in an environmentally sensitive area under the stewardship of the Oxford Preservation Trust.

The project was awarded the Oxford Preservation Trust award for Landscape & Public Realm in 2020.

Our client, Sustrans, offered some great feedback on the project:

"It has been a pleasure to work with you and your highly professional team. As you know, usage of the route has shot up as a result of the improvements and the landowner, Oxford Preservation Trust, is well pleased with the work you've done.

We are hoping that we can secure more funding for more path improvement projects in future, and we'll certainly keep you in mind for anything that comes up."

Peter Challis, Network Development Manager, Sustrans

Since completion, Greenford has completed a number of other similar projects. This includes the Haydon Hill Cycleway in Aylesbury for Buckinghamshire County Council.
