Temporary Bridge - Charlton on Otmoor.

Greenford have been appointed by the Oxfordshire County Council and Milestone Infrastructure to install a temporary bridge after structural issues were uncovered within the original stone bridge.

The team worked on the creation of a securely compacted surface for the crane to be well-supported during the lifting of the bridge.

A cheery village crowd gathered as the bridge made its way down the track towards the site, with the driver of the lorry expertly manoeuvring the 18m by 4m bridge down the narrow Oxfordshire village lanes in reverse.

The bridge weighed an impressive 20.5 tons and was lifted skillfully by crane into place.

Now that the bridge is in position, the team at Greenford must create a sloping pathway on either side of the temporary structure in order for the bridge to be used.
